5、obeing.TheHeaventheancientChinesereferredtowasactuallytheUniversenature.Inthosedaystherewerespecificritesofwship.ThiswasespeciallytrueduringtheMingQingdynastieswhenelabateceremonieswereheld.TheTempleofHeavenwasbuiltin142
6、0duringthereignofEmperYongleoftheMingDynasty.Situatedinthesouthernpartofthecitythisgrsetofstructurescoversanareaof273hectares.TobettersymbolizeheavenearththenthernpartoftheTempleiscircularwhilethesouthernpartissquare.The
7、wholecompoundisenclosedbytwowallsasquarewalloutsidearoundone.Theouterareaisacterizedbysuburbanscenerywhiletheinnerpartisusedfsacrifices.TheinnerenclosureconsistsoftheHallofPrayerfGoodHarvesttheCircularMoundAltar.(Alongth

15、leterraceofthemainhall)Thearchofthehallisbuttressedby16giantpillarsontworings.Ontopofthepillarstherearegiltbracketssupptingacircularcaissoncoveredceiling.Theceilingisacterizedbyagoldencoilingdragondesign.The8pillarofthei
16、nnerringarepaintedscarletdecatedwithgoldenlotuses.Tothenthofthehallthereisamarblepedestal.Atopitupawoodenflightof9stepsiswherethemajtabletdedicatetoHeavenwasenshrined.Oneachflankfourtabletsareenshrinedinhonoftheancestsof
