5、e effectiveness of apps for weight and diet management. Moreover, there are few examples of food recommender systems that provide to the users nutritional facts about suitable food choices and take into account individua

6、l physiological status and environmental situations. We propose DIETOS (DIET Organizer System), a recommender system for the adaptive delivery of nutrition contents to improve the quality of life of both healthy people a

7、nd individuals affected by chronic diet-related diseases. The proposed system is able to build a user’s health profile, and provides individualized nutritional recommendation according to the health profile. The profile

8、is created through the use of dynamic real-time questionnaires prepared by medical doctors and compiled by the users. Thehypertension and diabetes, themselves clinically silent [13]. The unawareness of being hypertensive

9、, or diabetic or affected by CKD represents the main obstacle to interfere the progression of renal damage and to prevent the occurrence of its complications [14]. Therapeutic diet regimens have been individualized for d

10、ifferent dis- ease stages according to Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines [15]. The clinical profiling represents a fundamental tool for a correct management of the diet in this typology of pat

11、ients while the monitoring of clinical responses and compliance to the prescription is the major mission of nephrologists and nephrology-dedicated nutritionists.We propose a web-based recommender system called DI-ETOS (D

12、IET-Organizer System) that extends a preliminary system presented in [16] to improve the quality of life of healthy and, expecially, individuals affected by chronic diet- related diseases, by combining the needs of leisu

13、re with health benefits. The DIETOS system provides individualized nutritional recommendation according to the user’s health profile defined by following the main guidelines furnished by the medical specialist. The healt

14、h profile is created through the supply of dynamic real-time questionnaires to the user, validated and approved by the medical staff. The system can advise the use of specific typical Calabrian foods, related not only to

15、 particular healthy condition but even to specific pathologies. In the current version, DIETOS can profile users affected by CKD, hypertension, and diabetes besides healthy users. As strength point, there is the capabili

16、ty of DIETOS to give informations about the benefits and side effects of several Calabrian foods for specific diseases or healthy conditions. To the best of our knowledge, DIETOS is the first recommender system that inco

17、rporates a catalog of typical/regional foods; the recommendation of the foods by DIETOS to the users, is based on criteria certified by the medical team as well as the nutritional information of the foods contained in th

18、e database; conversely to the traditional recommender systems that to make recommendation have to classify the users by using navigation data, behaviour data and so on, in DIETOS users are implicitly classified during th

19、e profilation step, in according to his/her health status. The rest of the paper is organized as follows: Section II describes the state of the art related to the dietary monitoring and management web systems and mobile

20、apps. Section III presents the architecture of the DIETOS system, whereas in Section IV design and implementation of a first DIETOS prototype is described. Finally, Section V underlines the future works and concludes the
