3、ensity of cells in the pallial thickening were studied by Nissl staining,Golgi- coxstaining.the connection with other nucleis of the pallial thickening were studied by retrogradetracer horseradish peroxidase(HRP) and flu
4、orescent tracer dextran tetramethylrhodamine,Fluoro- ruby(FR).It will supply morphological and histolgical foundation for elucidating thenuclei’ characterists and connections of the visual pathways in gekko gecko of the
5、reptiles.The morphology of the pallial thickening was studied by Nissl staining. the results weredemonstrated that pallial thickening lied in the rostral part of the telencephalon , anterior lateralpart of the ventricula
6、rion,caudal part of the nucleus olfactorius anterior and rostal lateral part ofthe anterior dorsal ventricular ridge.From the pallial thickening to the tangent point of thetelencephalon was close.the length of the pallia
7、l thickening was short,the cubage of the nucleuswas approximately 0.15mm3.From the rostral part to the caudal part the nucleus extendedgradually to max,then died down. The caudal part of the pallial thickening could divi
8、de into twoparts: dorsal part and ventral part.the length of the Dorsal part was as much as the ventralpart .the volume of the Dorsal part was larger than the ventral part.Observed from the transversesections, dorsal- ve
9、ntral distance of the dorsal part was longer than the medial- lateral distance ofthe dorsal part .Moreover, the dorsal- ventral distance of the ventral part was shortercomparatively. The shape and sizes of the two parts
10、were similar. The cell density of the dorsalpart was littler than the ventral part.The morphologyical types and sizes of cells in the pallial thickening were studied byGolgi- cox staining. the results were showed that th
11、ere were different types in the pallialthickening.the round cells were more than half(53.85%).the pyriform cells(28.57%)、 spindlycells (8.24%) and erose cells (9.34%) were not main. The pallial thicking was consisted of
12、large- ,medium- and small- diameter neurons. Their percents were 2.2%, 64.28% and 33.52%.The connections of the pallial thickening were studied by HPR and FR. the results wereshowed that the pallial thickening projected
13、to the rostal lateral part of the anterior dorsalventricular ridge,dorsal cortex and lateral cortex.It also were projected from the dorsalcortex,lateral cortex,strium and dorsal lateral nucleus.Key words: Nissl staining;
