2、nties. However，most of the existing look at the technology spread through total trade or in manufacturing and few of them examine the role of trade in services.

4、veloping countries (South-South trade) can reduce balance of payments problems，and creates employment opportunities; a scarcity of research still exists in this area，particularly investigating questions with respect to t

5、he positive effects of trade on economic growth in Sub Sahara countries especially in Togo. To shed some light on this uncertainty，the present paper investigates the causal relationship between trade and GDP growth in To

6、go and applies time series data techniques based on annual data for the period 1982 to 2012. In the first step，we will examine the relationship between imports and economic growth for services and for manufacturing and f

7、ind that the variables are integrated of order one. In the second step，we will use STATA to examine in the details the relationship between the economic growth，population，ratio of trade in services to GDP，gross domestic

8、investment，level of secondary school and ratio of trade in manufacturing to GDP.
　　The results suggest that imports of goods and services have a significant positive impact on economic growth in developed countries an

9、d a negative impact in developing countries. The results also suggest that，because of，the major implication from the findings of this study is that，in Togo during the observed period，economic growth is not significantly

10、influenced by import of services，as well as import of manufacturing is significantly but influenced negatively the economic growth. These findings may not be vital for future economic growth policy. The policy adjustment
