4、e covers the implementation of an OnlineReservation facility where customers can make bookings to the HEKU hotel through theWorld Wide Web sites. The expected outcomes include increased business returns andefficient c

5、ustomer service and satisfaction. The project work was accomplished through a thorough Systems Analysis andInvestigations for existing information system at HEKU hotel. This revealed theprevailing database and rese

6、rvation problems faced by the Hotel management team. Theproject was then design using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 for the desktop application andMicrosoft Sequel Query Language(MS-SQL) 2000 Server and HTMI, with ASP for

7、the web application. A web page was designed to permit Customers get a pictorial view of the features ofexisting facilities at the Hotel. This serves as a channel for marketing and advertising,while also enabling

8、customers to make Online Reservations to the Hotel.The project was designed in such a way that a customer making a reservation gets thedata submitted to the Database Server instantly and immediately receives a notifica

9、tion ifthe transfer has been successfully registered A search feature is included on the webpage to enable customers know which rooms and suites are free for booking and thecharges applicable. Authentication and E

10、ncryption Security measures were put in place to enable securetransfer of data between the Client and Server.Locally the system is designed to enable hotel staff enter data to the database forcustomers that make reser

11、vations locally at the hotel. Passwords assist the secure andcontrolled access to the Database.Stored Procedures are used for both the Online and Offline Reservations to ensure easyinsertion and retrieval of data from

12、 and to the database. Views were incorporated in thedatabase to provide the ability to store a predefined query as art object in the database forlater use. Finally, the system designed was tested through entering s
