10、tothrowofftheshacklesofcolonialismnowseethedawnofnewopptunityaheretofeunfeltdignitytheselfrespectofpoliticalfreedom.Musteringhalfoftheearthspopulation60percentofitsnaturalresourcesthesepeoplesarerapidlyconsolidatinganewf

11、cebothmalmaterialwithwhichtoraisethelivingstarderectadaptationsofthedesignofmodernprogresstotheirowndistinctculturalenvironments.WhetheroneadherestotheconceptofcolonizationnotthisisthedirectionofAsianprogressitmaynotbest

12、opped.Itisacollarytotheshiftofthewldeconomicfrontiersasthewholeepicenterofwldaffairsrotatesbacktowardtheareawhenceitstarted.Inthissituationitbecomesvitalthatourowncountryientitspoliciesinconsonancewiththisbasicevolutiona

13、ryconditionratherthanpursueacourseblindtotherealitythatthecolonialeraisnowpasttheAsianpeoplescovettherighttoshapetheirownfreedestiny.Whattheyseeknowisfriendlyguidanceunderstingsupptnotimperiousdirectionthedignityofequali

14、tynottheshameofsubjugation.Theirprewarstardoflifepitifullylowisinfinitelylowernowinthedevastationleftinwarswake.WldideologiesplaylittlepartinAsianthinkingarelittleunderstood.Whatthepeoplesstrivefistheopptunityfalittlemef

15、oodintheirstomachsalittlebetterclothingontheirbacksalittlefirmerroofovertheirheadstherealizationofthenmalnationalisturgefpoliticalfreedom.Thesepoliticalsocialconditionshavebutanindirectbearinguponourownnationalsecuritybu

16、tdoexpansionincreasedpowernmaltothistypeofimperialism.ThereislittleoftheideologicalconcepteitheronewayanotherintheChinesemakeup.Thestardoflivingissolowthecapitalaccumulationhasbeensothoughlydissipatedbywarthatthemassesar

17、edesperateeagertofollowanyleadershipwhichseemstopromisethealleviationoflocalstringencies.IhavefromthebeginningbelievedthattheChineseCommunistssupptoftheNthKeanswasthedominantone.Theirinterestsareatpresentparallelwiththos

18、eoftheSoviet.ButIbelievethattheaggressivenessrecentlydisplayednotonlyinKeabutalsoinIndoChinaTibetpointingpotentiallytowardtheSouthreflectspredominantlythesamelustftheexpansionofpowerwhichhasanimatedeverywouldbeconquersin

19、cethebeginningoftime.TheJapanesepeoplesincethewarhaveundergonethegreatestrefmationrecdedinmodernhisty.WithacommendablewilleagernesstolearnmarkedcapacitytoundersttheyhavefromtheashesleftinwarswakeerectedinJapananedificede

20、dicatedtothesupremacyofindividuallibertypersonaldignityintheensuingprocesstherehasbeencreatedatrulyrepresentativegovernmentcommittedtotheadvanceofpoliticalmalityfreedomofeconomicenterprisesocialjustice.Politicallyeconomi

21、callysociallyJapanisnowabreastofmanyfreenationsoftheearthwillnotagainfailtheuniversaltrust.ThatitmaybecountedupontowieldaprofoundlybeneficialinfluenceoverthecourseofeventsinAsiaisattestedbythemagnificentmannerinwhichtheJ

22、apanesepeoplehavemettherecentchallengeofwarunrestconfusionsurroundingthemfromtheoutsidecheckedcommunismwithintheirownfrontierswithouttheslightestslackeningintheirfwardprogress.IsentallfourofouroccupationdivisionstotheKea

26、torefutebyactionmuchofthemaliciousgossipwhichsounderminedthestrengthofitsleadershipontheChinesemainl.TheFmosanpeoplearereceivingajustenlightenedadministrationwithmajityrepresentationonthegansofgovernmentpoliticallyeconom

27、icallysociallytheyappeartobeadvancingalongsoundconstructivelines.WiththisbriefinsightintothesurroundingareasInowturntotheKeanconflict.WhileIwasnotconsultedpritothePresidentsdecisiontointerveneinsupptoftheRepublicofKeatha

28、tdecisionfromamilitarystpointprovedasoundoneaswehurledbacktheinvaderdecimatedhisfces.OurvictywascompleteourobjectiveswithinreachwhenRedChinaintervenedwithnumericallysuperigroundfces.Thiscreatedanewwaranentirelynewsituati
