2、nd spiritual connotation as well as richness and uniqueness of artistic appeal, generation after generation of literature and literators thereafter. Following Han Dynasty, the booming period of Chu Ci reception, literato

3、rs in Wei and Jin Dynasty, as the age providing the board context of literature consciousness along with its various historical and periodical characteristics, brought their attention and reception of Chu Ci back to be f

4、ocused on the text itself. They, thus, absorbed, into the interpretation of Chu Ci, more emotional and aesthetic experiences of the readers based on which personal second-creation was undertaken, hence the emergence of a

5、 considerable quantity of works resulted from learning from and imitation of Chu Ci. Thereby the development of Chu Ci subject was greatly promoted, decorating this period as an era non-ignorable in the history of Chu Ci

6、 reception development. The Chu Ci reception in this period, as opposed to prior ages, took on new features, including more attention was paid to the literature value of Chu Ci; a shifting from the appreciation of Qu Yua

7、n’s loyalty and patriotism as his primary spiritual and personal characteristics to the admiration of his intelligence and scholarship, the eulogy of his noble character and morality, as well as the sympathy to his trage

8、dy life. This essay, therefore, demonstrates the reception of Chu Ci, with methodologies adopted including material analysis, case studies, comparative studies and an integration of western reception theories, on the two

9、 major aspects of thought-content and an artistic form. The expression of talents unrecognized, the selection of fairyland and YuanYou (Far-off Journey) topics, and the experience of melancholy emotion from ascending a h

10、ill and overlooking at rivers with mourning autumn in literature works of Wei and Jin Dynasty were all concrete manifestations of the reception of Chu Ci’s thought-content. Whereas the adoption of literature techniques i

11、ncluding figuration, symbolism, imagination and exaggeration, the image-building of beauties and goddesses, and the image-creating of plants implied the great impact Chu Ci dealt on the literature of Wei and Jin Dynasty.
