2、stract The Purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) scale for college students, and use this tool to investigate IAD among college students in Shanghai.130 valid sur

3、veys from 5 universities were collected to test the scale’ s quality first, and then 370 valid surveys from 6 universities were collected to investigate Internet use degree utilizing the IAD scale and other questionnai

4、res. The results showed as following: (1) The scale has good reliability and validity and can be used to assess Internet addition disorder among college students. (2) About 8.1% college students in Shanghai have use

5、d Internet to the degree that meets the criteria of IAD. (3) Higher IAD scale scores were found in males, science academic majors and sophomores. (4) On an average, Internet impaired students’ daily life routin

6、es and physical health, but impacted positively on their relationship with friends and schoolmates. (5) Internet usage degree was found to be associated with on- line time per week, number of on- line motivation,
