2、s usually the gateway of ancient northern grassland nomads to enter the Central Plains region. In Ming Dynasty, Chagatai descendant, Zhongshun King, is appointed to garrison the town and establishes Hami Garrison here in

3、 early times. Because of its unique location, Hami Garrison plays an important political, military, and economic role of Northwest in Ming Dynasty. Based on the former studies, and using northwestern military and politic

4、al situation in early Ming Dynasty as the starting point, this thesis gives priority to rearch the reasons for the establishment of Hami Garrison and its true role in history of the Ming Dynasty and tries to make an obje

5、ctive evaluation. Part I: researches the situation of Western Regions and the establishment of Hami Garrison from later-Yuan Dynasty to early-Ming Dynasty. Regards that after collapsing of Yuan, Mongolian in Mobei has d

6、eveloped the segmentation and Chagatai Khanate in Northwest split, Ming Dynasty want to consolidate the rule of the border, first of all, to against the Mobei Mongolia .In the circumstances, the situation in northwestern

7、 border must be stability, and the functions of military, economic, and historical heritage are particularly important for the northwest frontier of the Ming Dynasty to contribute to political stability, so Ming Dynasty

8、tries to remove obstacles in Hexi, establish seven garrisons in the west of Jiayu Pass,and Hami Garrison as the leader of others. Part II: Researches that Hami Garrison is under the rule of the Ming dynasty. Regards tha

9、t the rule of Ming Dynasty on the Hami not only includes the relationship between the local and Hami, but also should include the relationship between Wala and Hami, Turpan and Hami. In fact, the relationship between the

10、 Ming Dynasty and Hami concerns if the border pattern is stability or not. Evaluates the true role that Hami played in the northwest frontier history in Ming Dynasty, regards that Hami Garrison did not meet the desired r

11、ule goal of Ming Dynasty because of many kinds of reasons. Finally, researches the relationship between Hami Garrison and other seven garrisons and regardes that the Ming’s policy and attitude for Hami Garrison is differ
