3、physicalandchemicalpropertiesandapplicationsascatalystThereareseveralreactionsthatcanoccuronnanoparticles,suchascatalysis,corrosion,coating,etcBecauseadsorptionwillbeinvolvedinthefirststepofthereactions,theadsorptionofsm

4、allmoleculesontonanoparticleshasbeenquitewidelystudiedTheadsorptionsamongAu3,5clustersandCH30HmoleculeshavebeeninvestigatedusingdensityfunctionaltheoryThegeometricparameters,vibrationalfrequenciesadsorptionenergiesandMul

5、likenchargesareusedtOanalyzetheinteractionsbetweenAu35clustersandmethanolmoleculesThepresentcalculationsshowthatmorethanonemethanolmoleculeCanbeadsorbedontosmallclustersofgoldions,andthatthisadsorptionisdifferentfromthat

6、ofsinglemoleculeabsorptionTheredshiftofC一0stretchingfrequencydecreasesasthenumberofmethanolmoleculesmincreases,orasgoldclustersizeincreasesThepositivechargeonAu35andthecoordinationnumberoftheadsorptionsitesonthegoldclust
