3、ingstms.AtthesemomentsAmericahascarriedonnotsimplybecauseoftheskillvisionofthoseinhighofficebutbecauseWethePeoplehaveremainedfaithfultotheidealsofourfbearerstruetoourfoundingdocuments.Soithasbeen.Soitmustbewiththisgenera

4、tionofAmericans.Thatweareinthestofcrisisisnowwellunderstood.Ournationisatwaragainstafarreachingwkofviolencehatred.Oureconomyisbadlyweakenedaconsequenceofgreedirresponsibilityonthepartofsomebutalsoourcollectivefailuretoma

5、kehardchoicespreparethenationfanewage.Homeshavebeenlostjobsshedbusinessesshuttered.Ourhealthcareistoocostlyourschoolsfailtoomanyeachdaybringsfurtherevidencethatthewaysweuseenergystrengthenouradversariesthreatenourpla.The

6、searetheindicatsofcrisissubjecttodatastatistics.LessmeasurablebutnolessprofoundisasappingofconfidenceacrossourlanaggingfearthatAmerica’sdeclineisinevitablethatthenextgenerationmustloweritssights.TodayIsaytoyouthatthechal

7、lengeswefacearereal.Theyareserioustheyaremany.Theywillnotbemeteasilyinashtspanoftime.ButknowthisAmericatheywillbemet.Onthisdaywegatherbecausewehavechosenhopeoverfearunityofpurposeoverconflictdiscd.Onthisdaywecometoprocla

8、imanendtothepettygrievancesfalsepromisestherecriminationswnoutdogmasthatffartoolonghavestrangledourpolitics.Weremainayoungnationbutinthewdsofurethetimehascometosetasidechildishthings.Thetimehascometoreaffirmourenduringsp

9、irittochooseourbetterhistytocarryfwardthatpreciousgiftthatnobleideapassedonfromgenerationtogeneration:theGodgivenpromisethatallareequalallarefreealldeserveachancetopursuetheirfullmeasureofhappiness.Inreaffirmingthegreatn

10、essofournationweunderstthatgreatnessisneveragiven.Itmustbeearned.Ourjourneyhasneverbeenoneofshtcutssettlingfless.IthasnotbeenthepathftheNisthequestionbefeuswhetherthemarketisafcefgoodill.Itspowertogeneratewealthexpfreedo

11、misunmatchedbutthiscrisishasremindedusthatwithoutawatchfuleyethemarketcanspinoutofcontrolthatanationcannotprosperlongwhenitfavsonlytheprosperous.ThesuccessofoureconomyhasalwaysdependednotjustonthesizeofourGrossDomesticPr

12、oductbutonthereachofourprosperityonourabilitytoextendopptunitytoeverywillingheartnotoutofitybutbecauseitisthesurestroutetoourcommongood.Asfourcommondefensewerejectasfalsethechoicebetweenoursafetyourideals.OurFoundingFath

13、ersfacedwithperilswecanscarcelyimaginedraftedatertoassuretheruleoflawtherightsofmanaterexpedbythebloodofgenerations.Thoseidealsstilllightthewldwewillnotgivethemupfexpedience’ssake.sotoallotherpeoplesgovernmentswhoarewatc

14、hingtodayfromthegrestcapitalstothesmallvillagewheremyfatherwasbn:knowthatAmericaisafriendofeachnationeverymanwomanchildwhoseeksafutureofpeacedignitythatwearereadytoleadonceme.Recallthatearliergenerationsfaceddownfismnotj

15、ustwithmissilestanksbutwithsturdyalliancesenduringconvictions.Theyunderstoodthatourpoweralonecannotprotectusndoesitentitleustodoasweplease.Insteadtheyknewthatourpowergrowsthroughitsprudentuseoursecurityemanatesfromthejus

16、tnessofourcausethefceofourexamplethetemperingqualitiesofhumilityrestraint.Wearethekeepersofthislegacy.Guidedbytheseprinciplesoncemewecanmeetthosenewthreatsthatdemevengreaterefftevengreatercooperationunderstingbetweennati

17、ons.WewillbegintoresponsiblyleaveIraqtoitspeoplefgeahardearnedpeaceinAfghanistan.Witholdfriendsfmerfoeswewillwktirelesslytolessenthenuclearthreatrollbackthespecterofawarmingpla.Wewillnotapologizefourwayoflifenwillwewaver

18、initsdefensefthosewhoseektoadvancetheiraimsbyinducingterrslaughteringinnocentswesaytoyounowthatourspiritisstrongercannotbebrokenyoucannotoutlastuswewilldefeatyou.Fweknowthatourpatchwkheritageisastrengthnotaweakness.Weare

19、anationofChristiansMuslimsJewsHindusnonbelievers.WeareshapedbyeverylanguageculturedrawnfromeveryendofthisEarthbecausewehavetastedthebitterswillofcivilwarsegregationemergedfromthatdarkchapterstrongermeunitedwecannothelpbu

20、tbelievethattheoldhatredsshallsomedaypassthatthelinesoftribeshallsoondissolvethatasthewldgrowssmallerourcommonhumanityshallrevealitselfthatAmericamustplayitsroleinusheringinaneweraofpeace.TotheMuslimwldweseekanewwayfward

21、basedonmutualinterestmutualrespect.Tothoseleadersaroundtheglobewhoseektosowconflictblametheirsociety’sillsontheWestknowthatyourpeoplewilljudgeyouonwhatyoucanbuildnotwhatyoudestroy.Tothosewhoclingtopowerthroughcruptiondec
