2、 attention control, ERPs were recorded in response to stimulus arrays containing two faces and two houses. In Experiment One, attention was focused on the face pair or on the house pair by separate blocks, and facial exp

3、ression was either angry or neutral. When faces were attended, an enhanced positivity was elicited by angry as compared to neutral faces, including smaller N1 and N2 components as well as larger P2 and LPP(late positive

4、potential) components. In contrast, when houses were attended, this emotional positivity remained present in N1 and P2 component, but emotional expression effects of N2 and LPP component were completely eliminated. In Ex

5、periment two, only house pair was task-relevant and its location varied with separate trials, orienting of attention to distracting faces was manipulated via spatial cue. We found the emotional expression effects were co

6、mpletely eliminated in this experiment , and under the spatial attention oriented towards faces condition, LPP component ever smaller for angry faces in the 300-450ms time window . In both experiments the face-sensitive

7、N170 amplitudes were enhanced when spatial attention oriented towards faces ,but this component was unaffected by emotional facial expression ,suggesting that spatial attention can modulate the structural encoding of fac
