3、 the being, OTHER WORLD has become the secret in Nabokov’s soul and a complete system in the writer’s whole life. With the method of text analysis, in the first part, the paper will points out the substantive content und

4、er its magnificent semblance form, which is the partly visible and unique Petersburg, which is able to be SEEN in the author’s heart. According to the different ways to describe, there are three points in this part, IMAG

5、INING PETERSBURG: THE DICISIVE EVIDENCE OF EXISTENCE; THE TEMPORARY SUBSTITUTE PERSON OF PETERSBURG: THE EUOOPEAN CITY and DREAMING TO RETURN PETERSBURG: RETURNING THE LOST HEAVEN. This part reveals Nabokov’s deep feelin

6、gs for Russia, with the sigh for hopeless of being back, and appears intermittently the mother's image of Russia. The minute portray of Petersburg reappears Nabokov’s real feeling of “returning home in the dream, rea

7、ppearing yesterday”, and becomes a sharp contrast with here with confusion, false and solitary. The second part will mainly analysis the fuzzy existence called as the dwelling-place of soul by Nabokov. From describing th

8、e false and lonely world with a series of paradoxes and a kind of way to rescue, to outline the borderline world with the type of Utopia; and this world is full of the truth and the justice, the eternal art and the spiri

9、tual harmony, the beauty and the love, the sympathy and the compassionating for all the life; it is the dwelling-place of the soul and beyond the people’s birth and death. OTHER WORLD appears perfectly through Nabokov’s

10、special artistic technique again and again, and this kind of techniques includes holding in esteem for details, mixing the Metonymy and metaphor and rewriting creatively the memory. In the third part, I will analysis bri
