4、ughhumanresourcesrequiresastrategicmanagementperspective(JacksonSchuler1995).Thisisthebasicrationaleofstrategichumanresourcemanagement(SHRM).RecentstudieshaveexaminedSHRMasameansofenhancingganizationalcompetitiveadvantag
5、ewhichimprovesoverallfirmperfmance(Arthur1994Huselid1995MacDuffie1995)PreviousauthshavedescribedSHRMastheprocessoflinkingHRpracticestobusinessstrategy(UlrichLake1991).Humanresourcemanagershavelongregardedcompensationasac
6、ruciallevertomoveemployeestowardthedesiredgoalsofanganization(McLaganNel1995).ExaminingtheeffectsofpaypolicyonanenterprisehasbecomeaveryimptantissueintheHRMfieldasmanagerssoftwareserviceindustry.Severalfactsinfluencedthe
7、ionofthesethreeindustries.Firstacquiringaskilledwkfceisanimptantpartofaservicefirm’sefftstoenhanceitscompetitiveadvantage.Sincetechnologybasedservicefirmsprofitfromservicesdeliveredwithinanadvancedtechnologycontexttheysh
8、ouldemphasizeanappropriatepaypolicytorecruitmotivatehighlyqualifiedpeople.Secondintermsofissuesrelatedtostrategicpaypolicyperspectivesexistingstudiesdonotfocusonservicesects.ThirdTaiwanwasonceoneofthesignificantemergingm
9、arketsinthewldbutisnowfacinggreatchallengesduetotheemergenceofChinaintensecompetitionininternationalmarkets.Thetechnologybasedservicesectplaystheimptantroleofinnovationinitiatknowledgemediatleadingtoproductivitygrowthfth
10、eentireindustry.BuildingacompetitiveadvantagethroughHRMpracticesinthissectisofvitalinteresttoTaiwan’seconomicdevelopmentisthusanimptantissuefTaiwan’sHRprofessionalsresearchers.Thisanalysisincludesseveralimptantcontrolsto
11、providemeconvincingevidenceftheresearchhypotheses.FinallytheempiricalaspectofthisresearchexploitsatechnologybasedservicefirmdatasetconstructedbytheDirectateGeneralofBudgetAccountingStatistics(DGBAS)acabilevelofficeinTaiw
12、an.Thislargesampledatasetprovidesamecompleteappropriatepictureofthevariablesanalyzedinthisstudy.Consequentlytheresultsofthisinvestigationareaninterestingexaminationofthisfield.Inviewoftheimptanceofinnovationintechnologyb
13、asedservicefirmsthisstudyfocusesononespecificbutimptantaspectofbusinessstrategy:innovationstrategy.Thisareaiswthyofstudybecausenoresearchershaveinvestigatedtheeffectwhichpaypolicycombinedwithinnovationstrategyhasonfirmpe
